Young Leaders
MORE THAN JUST GREAT PLAYERS!
Our club is about more than just producing players, and we pride ourselves on instilling a sense of community. Once our players move into Year 10 they become eligible to apply to become Young Leaders. As part of this programme they become registered Sussex Sport volunteers and can earn rewards via the Sussex Sport website. Our Young Leaders contribute to the club by helping to coach at junior sessions and assisting at matches. In return the club funds them to take recognised coaching and umpiring courses. Young Leaders can use this programme to gain credit for the D of E award scheme, and, in some cases, towards their GCSE P.E.
What do we want from you?
•You must currently be in at least Year 10;
•You will be the assistant coach either at our
junior sessions (Friday evenings 5.30-6.30pm
at Pennthorpe School) or at our intermediate
sessions (Monday evenings). You may also be
given the responsibility to be an assistant
coach to a specific team and be expected to
attend some of their matches in this role;
•You will umpire at some junior matches;
•You must be a role model for younger players.
What do we expect from you?
To qualify as a young leader you will have to:
•Participate in at least one training course per academic year;
•Attend and help to lead training at at least 2 junior or intermediate
sessions per month;
•Act at all times with respect towards other members of the club – both
coaches and players.
What’s in it for you?
•Rudgwick Assistant Coach kit;
•Rewards from the Sussex Volunteer scheme;
•This will count towards your D of E awards and also some modules of
your GCSE PE;
•As an umpire, you will be paid £10 for every junior match that you umpire
in the Sussex League.
