Congratulations to Harley Evans who was awarded the first ever Rudgwick Young Leaders’ sweatshirt. These hoodies, which are generously sponsored by Pennthorpe School, are for girls who have shown exceptional leadership and commitment to the club. Harley who is in Year 11 has been attending junior coaching sessions throughout the season and has taken small groups for skills sessions. She has also braved the miserable weather to help umpire and officiate at the club’s Christmas and Easter tournaments. Well done, Harley, and thank you for all your hard work!

WE ARE FANTASTIC
WED 17th MARCH – Loxwood Primary School win regional finals and go on to represent our district at the county finals. What’s that got to do with us?? Every single girl on the team plus their coaches all play for Rudgwick netball club!!
Rebecca Kelly and Sabrina Haynes both awarded scholarships to Hurstpierpoint – both girls have netball recognised as a particular strength!
We can’t claim all the credit but still…what a great day.
February 2010 We have added a new item of clothing to our kit list. The baselayer will keep us warm in winter and keep us cool in the summer. We have our own page at www.playerlayer.com click on clubs and type in Rudgwick Netball Club where you can order your base layer. The baselayers have Rudgwick Netball Club written on the sleeve in blue for the lady members and pink for the kids. They cost £20.00 for kids and £23.50 for ladies. These are very reasonable prices for the quality of baselayer you will receive. There will be no delivery charges as your order will be delivered to me at home. For those of you who played outside at the end of last year, these will be very welcome. Mine is already on order ! If you place your order before 4th February 2010 you will receive it by mid February. Please note that none of the Rudgwick Netball kit is compulsory.

CONGRATULATIONS
Two of our U15 team, Katie Mallalieu and Courtney Mahon have both passed their first aid training and have agreed to become joint team managers of one of our U12 teams, starting next term. Olivia Barnes (U16) has completed her basic umpiring training and will be helping out at matches and tournaments in the near future. Well done, girls!
Congratulations to Olivia Barnes (U16) and Courtney Mahon (U15) who have been accepted into the North Sussex Senior Development Academy. Well done to both of you and we hope some of our younger members will follow in you footsteps next year.
September 2009 Money, Money, Money! Congratulations to all the coaches and volunteers at the club. Their hard work has been rewarded with an amazing grant of £4,678 from Sport England. This money will go towards the running costs of the club. It will enable us to train more coaches and umpires, pay for venue hire and buy loads of exciting new equipment. What a brilliant way to start our new season.
Rudgwick make the finals!
Well, yesterday we finished training for our summer break and held our prizegiving. I thought you would all be interested in hearing how we have got on this year.
As you will know we started very small in September (with about 7 girls regularly turning up to training at a local leisure centre). In January we were generously offered training facilities by Pennthorpe School and we moved our sessions to their indoor court. Since then our numbers have grown exponentially!
We now have nearly 60 registered players. We have competed in over 30 matches, including 4 tournaments and we have fielded 51 different players in these matches, ranging from Year 4s to Year 10s. We reached the semi finals of the Sussex knock out, were placed 1st equal at the Peacehaven Tournament (but lost out to Lewes on goal difference) and had a special mention and the Fair Play trophy at the nationally renowned East Grinstead Tournament.
Thank you so much to all the schools who have supported us in finding new club members. We really hope to continue with our club school links next year and look forward to coming in to run workshops/watch training sessions and promote the club in September. If you would like to arrange dates for this now then please get in touch. If not then enjoy your holidays and we look forward to hearing from you next term.
Yours, Emily King
